About Theatreview
Theatreview is a catalog of theatre shows, productions, and the reviews members write after seeing them. It is built and written by one person.
I'm Jacob. I built the Theatreview iOS app so people could keep a record of the performances they attend — which production, which theatre, and crucially which cast, since the people onstage on any given night are the part nobody writes down. This site is the public half of that catalog: 12 shows with a page so far, drawn from 688 public member reviews carrying 2,897 recorded cast credits.
Why this site exists
Most of what you can look up about a theatre production is either a ticket listing or a critic's review from opening week. What is missing is the durable record: how long a run actually lasted, who was on for a given performance, what an audience thought after the press night crowd went home.
The app collects that from people who were in the room. This site publishes it, alongside editorial written to answer the questions the catalog itself cannot — what a standby is, which shows are closing, what the data says about how Broadway actually works.
How the writing is done
Guides, lists, and show descriptions are drafted with AI assistance and checked by me against primary sources before anything is published. Every piece carries its sources at the foot of the page. Nothing goes live unreviewed, and the byline is a person because a person is accountable for it.
Ratings and reviews are never generated. Every one comes from a signed-in member of the app who saw the performance. The full methodology is on how our ratings work.
Corrections and contact
If something here is wrong — a date, a credit, a show page describing the wrong production — email support@theatreview.app with a link and, if you have one, a source. I would rather fix it than defend it.
