Theatreview publishes original analysis of its theatre catalog. The numbers, the methodology, and the raw files are all public, and you may republish them.

In one line: Theatreview is a catalog of theatre shows, productions, and venues, plus audience reviews logged through its app by people who attended the performance.

How to cite us

Attribute to Theatreview and link to the page the figure came from. Every analysis carries an "as of" date, and the catalog changes, so please include it:

If you need a figure cut a different way — by venue, by decade, by production type — ask. The underlying catalog is larger than what any one piece publishes.

What you can reuse

Published datasets, tables, and charts are released under CC BY 4.0 . You may republish them, including commercially and including in an edited or redrawn form, as long as you credit Theatreview and link to the source page.

You do not need to ask permission, and you do not need to send us a copy — though we are always glad to see one.

What the data does not cover

Stating this up front saves everyone a correction. The catalog is strongest on production history — titles, venues, opening and closing dates, production type — and that is what the published analyses use.

  • No grosses or attendance. We do not hold box office figures. Anything about revenue or capacity has to come from The Broadway League.
  • No performance counts. Run lengths are measured in calendar days between opening and closing, because that is what the catalog records.
  • Review data is not a sample worth quoting yet. Member reviews number in the hundreds across a few dozen people. That is enough to describe a show's page and nowhere near enough to characterise audience opinion, and we will say so rather than let it be reported as a survey.
  • Coverage is not exhaustive. Each analysis states how many records it covers out of how many exist. Those denominators are on the page for a reason.
